My Experience of Open Mic

Open Mic is a programme at my school where students can showcase their talents, and this was my second time participating. This term, it was on the 7th of December. In my previous Open Mic, I sang "Memories." This time, I teamed up with Pratyush and Pranav, and we added Drishya as our lead singer. I took on the role of playing the cajon. Together, we decided to perform ACDC's "TNT," and we were all excited about it.

When I got home, my first task was to practise the drum beat of the song. Once that was done, I diligently tackled my homework before going back to rehearse the drum beats. I was ready for the big day.

On the day of the performance, I met Pratyush, and we eagerly searched for Drishya. It turned out his bus was late, causing some stress for our group. We had initially planned to sing "Indreni," but another group had already chosen that song. Time was ticking, and we needed an alternative.

Drishya suggested "Past Lives," but Pranav and Pratyush did not know the chords, and I was not familiar with the beat. Luckily, Mauri's group invited us to join them to sing "We Will Rock You." With Pranav and Pratyush knowing the chords and me familiar with the beats, we gladly accepted.

Our performance of "We Will Rock You" was met with cheers from the audience. Afterward, we were asked to perform it again, and even some teachers, including Yukta ma’am, Reshika ma’am, and Sapana ma’am, requested that we perform "Memories" once more.

After a brief practice, we performed "Memories'' as the last act of the Open Mic. The applause was heartening. After the programme, we gathered outside the school. While chatting with Raj and Ritvik, Ritvik’s mom offered us chicken patties, thinking we might be hungry. Eventually, my mom and Raj’s mom arrived, and as we said our goodbyes, Raj invited me to join him and Aashutosh for another DSN.

I agreed, and with that, we parted ways, looking back on a memorable Open Mic experience.
