Poetry Struggle

Help me, please, help me,

I don't know how to write a poem, you see.

It's compulsory tonight, that's true,

But I'm lost, just like you.

"I can't even write one line," I say,

While you're on the 2nd or 3rd, by the way.

I reply, "It's only two lines, don't despair,"

But you scream, "I can't submit that, it's just not fair!"

"Hey, I'm not the best either," I admit,

"You can do it much better, I must admit." You say,

"I can't write a poem, it's true,

We can't help each other, it's past midnight, too."

We argued for hours, what a waste,

Now it's too late, there's no time to haste.

Our teacher checks at midnight, that's for sure,

We're stuck, and there's no easy cure.

It's our fault, that much is clear,

Our plan to help each other, now it's here.

We'll go to school unprepared,

Oh no, we're in trouble, I’m scared.
