On Baisakh 15, 2080, I went to Gorkha with my grandparents for our Kulpuja, which occurs yearly. My parents went two days before me, as I had gone to Baglung with my grandparents to attend my uncle’s wedding ceremony. It took almost 10 hours to reach Gorkha from Baglung. The road from Pokhara to Abukhaireni was under construction, so there were numerous traffic jams and a dusty road. During the journey, I experienced motion sickness and felt exhausted. But as we took a left turn from Abukhaireni towards Gorkha, I felt fresher in its clean environment. My grandparents and uncles were excited and overwhelmed to see the road and village developments, as they had also been there for a long time.
At 6 p.m., we reached Gorkha. It was my first visit to Gorkha. The fresh air and green environment made all my exhaustion seem insignificant. We ate our dinner and went to sleep. The next morning, we got ready for our Diwali Pooja. After we finished our Pooja, as per our culture, we ate a feast together. This is one of the occasions when all of our relatives come together for the holy work of our Kulpuja. After finishing all our rituals, we sat in our house compound, talking. My father was sharing with us his beautiful childhood memories. Although the house was not the same, it is now a new concrete home built after the 2072 earthquake. I could see happiness in his face. It was already 11 p.m., so we all went to sleep.
In the morning, the bus was waiting to pick us up and take us back to Kathmandu. On the way, we all went to Gorkha Durbar and Baba Gorakhnath temple. After that, we all came back to Kathmandu. My first visit to Gorkha was a very nice and unforgettable tour. It was a wonderful trip to Gorkha.
