Higher

The bright blue sky so high above us all,
Reaching there is oh so hard and when we do we fear the fall,
Though it may seem so bright and clear,
It’s full of gloomy clouds that just taunt fear.
Even once we reach that “gorgeous” sky we aim for space,
An aim that mostly results in death.
No matter what we do it is never enough,
We want to reach higher thinking there’s treasure though it may be tough,
They say,
‘A diamond is just coal that did well under pressure’,
Well, striving for that pressure may be too much,
to the point there is no coal, just the remaining dust.
The dust is the reason why diamonds are rare,
Why we celebrate when we successfully go to space,
Strive higher yes,
But don’t to the point you only reach permanent rest.
