A social problem is a social condition that is harmful to members of society. Social problems are the general factors that affect society.; health, safety, and socio-cultural values can be called social problems. One of the many social problems of society is human-trafficking. This is like kidnapping and trafficking humans in terms of labour, sexual needs etc. Coming back to the topic, social problems are there in every society. Such as smoking in public, gambling, drug misuse, violence against women, theft, robbery, kidnapping, murder, rape, corruption, drinking alcohol etc. These problems are too complex to be solved.
There are lots of NGOs and INGOs which are working to eliminate social problems. The awareness programs they introduce do not reach the actual victims. Rape and kidnapping are the most seen social problems of our society. Many people do not have any idea about other social problems except rape and kidnapping.
Nepal is one of the underdeveloped countries in the world. There are different social problems and evils in society. Nepal is facing a large number of social problems such as the caste system, child labor, illiteracy, gender inequality, superstitions and much more. Illiteracy and poverty are also the major root causes of social evils. Even political situations are the ones causing social problems. Nepal is surrounded by corruption and a lack of development. 27% of the population is facing poverty. In the context of Nepal, many people still consider women as weak in comparison to men. Many people still think that women are created to serve men. People still do not  send their daughters to school because they think that one day they will have to marry and go to their husband’s  house. Not educating daughters can be a huge barrier to the development of Nepal.
The use of alcohol, smoking, addiction to drugs, is devouring the youth of the country. Some of them really do not know the effects of such habits. These are also social problems in Nepal.  Many awareness programs are only about rape, kidnapping, gender equality etc. Illiteracy is the main thing. If people are educated, people can identify what is wrong and what is not.
Finally, the government should establish more schools with proper facilities with low monthly fees. While voting, we must see the person’s capability, whether he/she can develop a country or not. We should organise awareness programs talking about most of the social problems covered in Nepal.
