World Children's day is celebrated on 20 November every year. In Nepal we celebrate children's day on 29th of Bhadra every year because Nepal signed on to the UN convention on the Right of children on september 14, 1996. Children's day is celebrated to protect and preserve the rights of children. According to our constitution all children have the right to be protected from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect. Children have the right to get education, health, family life, play and recreation. All children should have  special rights because they need extra protection than adults. They can not decide on their own and perform any work without support so they need help and support from others. Children's day emphasized that Children's rights should be legally protected and properly implemented. There is an international organization called the United Nation (UN). The UN has different organs and one of them is UNICEF ( United Nations international Children's Emergency fund) which has a mandate to the development of children everywhere. In Nepal there is a UNICEF office in Pulchowk, Lalitpur and UNICEF has been working for a long time on children's welfare.
