The novel “The Starry of the Sky” written by Grace Lin has taught us the most important thing in our lives.  The main point that the story has kept on repeating and has wanted us to know about is that “everyone has to leave one day”. Every being has their own life. They are all a singular being. We may be related through relations. Like family or friends or relatives or any other relation. But in the end, everyone has to leave for some reason. Some people pass away, some people go on living their own lives, and some people have some other goals that they have to leave us to achieve. This is why we have to focus on ourselves because the person that will never leave us is ourselves. This is why we always come first in our priorities. Even if people leave us we have to focus on ourselves and should not be bothered because of others. In the story, Peiyi's brother has to leave due to his own goals, Madam Chang has to leave, and even Rendi has to go back to his family. At the end she learns to let people go and focus on herself. There are many folk stories in the book too that tell us about the Chinese myths that hold the origin to different things in the world. The story is about the Sun, the plain, the frog, the well, etc. And those stories also hold different morals. Like the one about the monk at the top of the mountain. If the disciple had not cared about his teacher’s letter and just stayed where he had to, maybe he would have gotten to read the book from his master. This can also be an example of why we should focus on ourselves.
