Field visit has always been interesting. The students of Grade IX and X  were taken to the Dog Training Centre. We started our journey at 9:30 AM from school. As we started our trip, one police officer was guiding our way towards the place.

The visit was very interesting as we learned a lot of things about police dog training and its importance in the police department. The training center was established in 2026 B.S. and it has been serving our country for 50 years. Dr. Ramsharan Shakya, DSP of Nepal Police, presented us about the training procedure and the importance of dog security in Nepal. Dogs are trained for 8 months according to their specifications and breeds. There are 89 dogs in which 8 breeds are present. Dogs in Nepal are utilized for VVIP Security, crime investigation and explosive department investigation. There are 48 dogs being deployed in Kathmandu according to the demand for the crime. According to Dr. Ramsharan, only 20 breeds of dogs are used in the police.

In a nutshell, this field trip was very informative and we learned many things about dog’s importance in police and its training.
