The United Nations Organization (UNO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.

At present, it has 193 nations as its members. Its latest member nation is Montenegro. The general assembly first met in London on January 10, 1946. It was decided to locate the headquarters in the eastern United States. Nepal took membership of UNO on December 14, 1955 AD. Nepal brought foreign policy into effect by including it in the Interim Constitution of Nepal.
