Nepal is a landlocked country in between China and India. Nepal lies in the southern part of Asia. It  is the 49th largest country by population and the 93rd largest country by area. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. Nepali language is the national language of Nepal. Cow is the national animal while the Lophophorus is the national bird and rhododendron is the national flower. What makes my country Nepal remarkable is that it has never been taken or ruled by other countries. Pritivi Narayan Shah was the first king who started a planned unification of Nepal. Today it's a federal republic and Bidya Devi Bhandari is the president of the country. My country is known for having eight of the world's tallest mountains including Mount Everest which is the world's tallest mountain and  Kanchenjunga  which is the world's third  tallest mountain. The next thing to be proud of my country is that Gautam Buddha, the light of Asia was also born in Nepal.

Nepal is mostly covered by hilly and the himalaya regions but there is a small portion of plains, 17%, where people grow different crops like wheat, maize, turnic, rice, cauliflower, cabbage etc. Nepal has different castes and religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Christanity, and Islam. Different festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Lhosar, Holi etc are celebrated in this country. Different gods like Bishnu, Shiva and many other deities are worshipped in Hindu religion which is followed by the majority of the people. Some famous temples of Nepal are Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Muktinath. My country is also known for its unique triangular flag. About 80% of people are farmers in Nepal.

My country  has a long history starting from Gopal, Mahispal and Kirat dynasties who ruled ancient Nepal. In olden times, Kathmandu or Kantipur was commonly known as Nepal. Nepal is a part of  regional organization SAARC with India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan and Afghanistan as its members. SAARC was established in 1985 keeping in mind the mutual benefits of its member countries. The newest member Afghanistan joined SAARC in 2007. The headquarters of SAARC is located in Kathmandu, Nepal.
